Happy Birthday St. Faith’s

Happy Birthday St. Faith’s by The Rev’d Christine Wilson

On Sunday, Sept 17th, St. Faith's celebrated 70 years of ministry.

We gathered for coffee and goodies at 8:00am and at 9:30am held a special worship service giving thanks to God for all our blessings.  The Venerable Andrew Pike presided at the Eucharist, and led the children in sprinkling the congregation with holy water. In the Narthex, The Rev’d Melanie Calabrigo guided the children in story and together they made cards of gratitude for special people in their lives.

The Venerable John Stephens, in his sermon, commended St. Faith’s for sharing our faith in prayer, praise and action, saying if there was but one word to choose to describe St. Faith’s, that word would be peace -- In the day’s gospel reading from John Jesus said “Peace be with you!” , words John said this parish has lived out in so many ways and he encouraged us to continue to invite the peace of Christ to grace us and lead us forward in the power of the spirit.  Click here to listen to John's sermon

After the service we gathered downstairs in the Hall for food and fellowship.  The children, young and young at heart, enjoyed cupcake decorating and were enchanted by our face painters and balloon artists.  A group of St. Faith’s faithfuls gathered photographs from over the years which Laurel Fahrni put together in a gorgeous slide show.

One of the many highlights of the day was our rector, Richard, and our past two rectors Paula Porter Leggett and Andrew Pike, together – cutting the cake of course!

Special Guests - Sunday, August 27th

On Sunday, August 27th St. Faith's welcomed as our guest presider and preacher, the Rev'd Randolph Bruce whose sermon on Exodus 1: 8- 2:10 portrayed God and we, as God's disciples, as 'midwives' birthing new life.  Sermon by the Rev'd Randolph Bruce

At the 10:00am service we were joined by Mr Jerry Dadap Jr., whose music has been described as Classical guitar artistry that soars.   Take a few moments and listen in bliss...

“Come and See” - Reflections on John 1: 35-52

Sunday Jan 15th 2017 10am Service at St Augustine’s
by The Rev’d Christine Wilson

I was privileged to be invited to preach at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church on Sunday Jan 15th. Thanks to everyone at St. A’s for their warm welcome and generous hospitality.

John is the only one of the four gospels where Jesus’s call to discipleship takes the form of an invitation.  He entices the brothers to “come and see”, an invitation to come to know Jesus as God’s love made visible.

Here is audio of my sermon about the invitation into relationship Jesus offers us and how St. A’s is doing with this call to discipleship; in their shared, lived response to Jesus’ invitation to “Come and See”.
